Swedish Hornblower. He is beautiful, as is the fighting elf. You can see his sharp elven ears on the first cover. His name should be Hornbloweriel. :)

Our fans of the books and TV series has received a great gift this year. Finally all the books about Horatio Hornblower were translated from English to Russian. And this is a very good translation.

This is the first complete edition of Hornblower Saga in Russian. :)

One advantage of a Hornblower community like this is that I can ask this question without feeling stupid. My copy of Beat to Quarters/The Happy Return is in storage, and I need to know the names of the officers (Lieutenants and Midshipmen) for a story I'm writing. Since when cyntosis kindly shared some Hornblower book illustrations http://following-sea.livejournal.com/355839.html in Feb I've wanted to introduce some in my Japanese translation. Now I found time to scan them at last. So ...how do you members think about these?

I'm loving these posts on the various book covers and illustrations for the Hornblower series - so I'm contributing some of my own. The quality is pretty poor, as I had to resort to taking pictures with my webcam for some of these - but I think you might enjoy them nonetheless. Image heavy!

After anteros_lmc posted an illustration of Horatio a few days ago, I remembered that I owned a copy of Mr. Midshipman Hornblower with that very cover. In fact, having bought the series piecemeal through book stores, I have multiple portraits of Horatio to choose from.
